Honestly, I never really understood unemployment.
I thought, there are millions of jobs out here. Why do so many people not have one?
Then I found out why: because sometimes not having a job at all is better than not having the job you want.
I have a job. But I don’t want a job. I want a career and I want one in journalism (or writing, television, news, politics, entertainment, copywriting, something!) I don’t think that’s too much to ask considering that I have a Magna Cum Laude Bachelor of Science degree from one of the best journalism schools in the country and I had an internship at both of the top two cable news channels in the world and I have hands-on experience with print, online, and television and I’m willing to travel anywhere. And I’m cheap! I have no salary requirements – just a job in my field please!
I’ve found that it is easy as pie to get a job, but I am struggling to get a job in journalism/communications. This is crazy. I’m getting a job. That I like. In.My.Field before the clock strikes midnight on January 1st, 2011! I want to get paid to do what I love every day. Someone is and it may as well be me!
