The Peanuts Celebration at Kings Island

When I heard that Kings Island was having a Peanuts Celebration, I couldn’t wait to go with my husband and 10-month-old.

The Kings Island press release about the weeks long celebration said in part:

In addition to being able to interact with Charlie Brown, Snoopy and the rest of the gang in the award-winning Planet Snoopy kids’ area, during the PEANUTS™ Celebration you can find them all around in the park, for new character experiences, meet and greets, new whimsical shows, photo ops and deliciously themed treats.

This was perfect!

Alexander’s nursery is Peanuts theme, complete with a Snoopy doghouse my husband built himself and we buy Peanuts paraphernalia every chance we get.

We went down on a Friday and spent several hours there until it started storming.

We spent all of our time in the Planet Snoopy area. Voted “Best Kids’ Area in the World” for 17 consecutive years by Amusement Today, Planet Snoopy is the PEANUTS-themed kiddie rides and attractions area.

Taking a baby to an amusement park is tricky, but my husband and I planned the entire trip strictly for the Peanuts Celebration so it we didn’t plan to ride any roller coasters or spend any time in the waterpark.

Still, Alexander runs the schedule and there were a few times we had to break for feedings, diaper changes or just air conditioning.

(The Family Care Center by Fischer Homes is fantastic for those necessary baby breaks.)

We missed the lunch, but we did get to ride a couple of the rides (Alexander liked Woodstock Express train the best), meet a few characters and we got to see the Peanuts kickoff celebration up close.

The character meet and greets were a little tricky.

We did meet Lucy, Franklin and Linus.

Just when we were about to meet Sally, we saw Charlie Brown ride through Planet Snoopy on a bike. He cruised slowly past us, but his handlers said he wasn’t taking pictures at that time. HUGE BUMMER. And we saw Snoopy as soon as he was done taking photos with fans. DOUBLE BUMMER.

It’s too bad they don’t have set times to get pictures with the characters, especially since that was a major reason why we had come.

Other than that, which better planning could control and the torrential downpour which started two hours earlier than forecasted, the trip was a huge success.

I highly recommend the Kings Island Peanuts Celebration.
