Here’s Why You Should Vote For Me To Be The Next CW Star!

“Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.” - Henry David Thoreau

Vote for me!!

Right now we’re in the middle of a grueling election season. There’s commercials, tweets, Facebook statuses, emails, phone calls, text messages and good ol’ fashioned door-to-door begging. No, I’m not talking about the presidential election, I’m talking about THE CW STAR CONTEST!!!!

The final step in the contest is the voting process and this is where fans of the CW can pick their favorite contestants (me! me! me!). Continue reading

Columbus is Fashion!: My CMH Fashion Week Runway Show Recap

Me with some of the CW Star contestants being Charlie’s Angels haha. So random!

What can I say about the CMH Fashion Week Finale Runway Show except if you missed it then you missed it!!!

The CW Star competition continues and our next step after tryouts, makeover day, and interview with the judges panel was to attend the fashion show. (Sidenote: If I win this contest, then next year, I’ll definitely do a video blog about what to wear to a fashion show for people like me who weren’t sure what to wear.)

The show was held at the brand-new Hilton hotel Downtown Columbus. And by “brand-new” I mean, the fashion show was held the night the hotel opened. I don’t know if that was planned that way or just impeccable timing but, either way, it was very cool. Continue reading

CW Star Columbus Audition Update: I Survived the Judges Panel!

[Vote for me to be the next CW Star by watching my short video. One view=one vote! Voting ends 11/6!]

So, I survived the celebrity judges panel for the CW Star auditions and OMG I was sooo nervous!

The day before, I had my customary “what should I wear?” freakout, but it turned out great. I wore this blue shirt I love (that I found for 10 bucks!) and skinny black jeans. I was going to wear some royal blue shoes, but didn’t want to look like a Smurf, so I used the interview as an excuse to buy these awesome Steve Madden “Bliss” shoes I’ve been admiring. CW Star Contest Makeover Day: My J.Bentley Studio and Spa Experience

[Vote for me to be the next CW Star by watching my short video. One view=one vote! Voting ends 11/6!]

So how do I look?

Terrible? Good because that’s my *before* picture.

Yesterday, all 10 of the CW Star Finalists got a makeover at J. Bentley Studio & Spa. The studio & spa is an up-scale hair salon and day spa offering full service day spa, hair care, fashion, and salon/professional retail products. They offer free Wi-Fi, free espresso coffee drinks, and free babysitting. J.Bentley is a sponsor of the CW and the lucky winners will get hair and spa services there on a regular basis!

As a preview for this cool aspect of the CW Star job, each finalist was given a “look”. Mine was “Bold Beauty” inspired by Estelle, Mila Kunis and Mary J Blige.

I was nervous before the makeover day, but then relaxed when I remembered that these were professional stylists and therefore they’re in business to make people look good.

Then I was just nervous because it’s part of the competition and I live in a perpetual state of nervousness until they announce the winners.

The first thing I noticed upon entering J. Bentley was how huge and gorgeous the salon is. The pictures (from their website) are beautiful but don’t even do it justice! The salon is a whopping 6,000 square feet with 18 styling stations, 6 treatment rooms, and 8 manicure/pedicure stations. It’s definitely a five-star studio and spa. Continue reading

Did Everyone Read This Book Without Telling Me?: My Thoughts On Mindy Kaling’s Book

I don’t write book reviews for the same reason I don’t write movie reviews — because I don’t know how. I’m not even sure what makes a good book besides not stealing plots (Chasing Harry Winston was basically Sex and the City) not using so many adjectives that I’m distracted from the point (every TD Jakes book) not giving bizarre advice to women as though you’re not on your third wife (Think Like A Man) and definitely telling a heckuva good story (Redeeming Love is my all-time favorite book).

So, I’m not qualified to write a true book review, but I have to tell you guys about Mindy Kaling’s book: Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me (And Other Concerns). This chick is hilarious and the book is awesome. Read it if only to find out how “Vera Chokalingam” became “Mindy Kaling”. Continue reading

CW Star Contest Update: I’m In the Top Nine!

[Vote for me to be the next CW Star by watching my short video. One view=one vote! Voting ends 11/6!]

I was in a meeting when the CW network announced the top nine contestants for the CW Star.

As I blogged about before, I auditioned for the CW Star Contest two weeks ago. I thought the Top 9 weren’t going to be revealed until this past Thursday evening during “Thursday Night Lights”, so I planned a full day of activity in an attempt to make the day go by faster. Continue reading
